The invention developed at Lukasiewicz &#8211; Institute of Electrical Engineering has been granted European patent protection. <\/strong><\/p><p>Patent No. EP4422010 relates to &#8220;A method and system for short-circuit protection of a DVR voltage variation compensator.&#8221; Information about the patent was published in European Patent Bulletin 19\/2026.<\/p><p>The patented invention is an essential component of DTH technology. It is responsible for the safety of the system&#8217;s operation, protecting the compensator from the effects of short-circuits occurring both on the side of the receiver fed from the power grid and in the area of the addition voltage converter. <\/p><p>The authors of the invention are Tomasz Sak, Piotr Mazurek, Krzysztof Zymmer and Andrzej Pawlaczyk.<\/p><p>The 630 kVA Distribution Hybrid Transformer prototype has been developed for installation in new and upgraded MV\/NV substations. The device is used to stabilize voltage in low-voltage networks and supports applications in modern Smart Grid systems. It enables continuous output voltage regulation within \u00b110% Un, improvement of voltage quality parameters, support for integration of distributed RES sources, and compensation of reactive power and voltage asymmetry within a limited range.  <\/p><p>The project &#8220;Distribution Hybrid Transformer (DTH) as an active component of modern Smart Grid systems&#8221; has been funded under Measure 4.1.4 of the Intelligent Development Operational Program.<\/p><p>The obtained European patent strengthens the position of \u0141ukasiewicz &#8211; Institute of Electrical Engineering as a center developing technologies that meet the real needs of the electric power sector.
