About us

The Testing Laboratory for Electromobility and Intelligent Transport (LET) offers tests of electric drive systems (motors and power systems) used both in industry and in consumer appliances. The tests also include generators used in renewable energy systems that generate electricity from water and wind.

Non-accredited testing of rotating electrical machines and drive systems for electric vehicles and industrial machinery

The tests cover electrical machines (motors and generators) and the associated inverter systems. The tests include:

  1. Electric motors and generators:
  • with a power output of up to 680 kW at up to 1,480 rpm, a voltage of up to 6 kV and a frequency of 50 Hz
  • with a power output of up to 200 kW at up to 2,000 rpm, a voltage of up to 660 V and a frequency of 0-65 Hz
  • with a power output of up to 160 kW at up to 2,800 rpm, a voltage of up to 660 V and a frequency of 0-65 Hz
  • with a power output of up to 30 kW at up to 18,000 rpm, a voltage of up to 660 V and a frequency of 0-65 Hz
  1. Electric drives with power inverters supplied with DC voltage up to 1 kV at up to 600 A. This includes tests of the following equipment:
  • industrial drives
  • powertrains for motor vehicles and single-track vehicles
  • drone aircraft propulsion systems
  • boat drives

The LET laboratory has the follwing power sources:

  • AC voltage UAC do 3×130-800 V, with power rating up to 1 MVA and frequency 50 Hz
  • AC voltage UAC 3×6 kV, , up to 1 MVA and frequency 50 Hz
  • DC voltage UDC do 1000 V, at up to 600 A
  • DC current IDC up to 1200 A, up to 8,4 kW

  • determination of mechanical characteristics of drive systems

  • measurement of sound power level

  • DC unit rated at 2×7 V and 2×600 A
  • dust chamber for IP rating testing
  • resistors with a resistance range of 0.02-40 Ohm and current up to 600 A
  • power analysers, power supplies, oscilloscopes, measuring probes, current shunts and transformers, torque, force, rotation, temperature, pressure, fluid flow meters, etc.

3. Programmable 62000H Chroma DC power supply

4. Chroma high-powered DC electronic load 63210E

Features:

  • possibility to combine loads in parallel in master/slave control mode – allows static and dynamic load tests with a power of up to 93.6 kW
  • simulating dynamic load changes at frequencies of up to 20 kHz. Programming of load levels and their durations as well as rise and fall times of the waveform
  • low input resistance allows high currents to flow with little voltage increase (voltage rises to only 1 V when rated current flows)

5. Torque meters

6. Braking systems with electronic feed-back to the grid

DC dynamometer with a power electronic device to provide the ability to feed energy back into the grid and control the dynamometer. The dynamometer is used to carry out load tests on electrical machinery used in vehicles. Rated brake power 15 kW, rated speed 3600 rpm.
