The project “A Family of Multiphase Drive Systems for Commercial Vehicles Ranging from 2.8-tonne N1-Class Vehicles to 29-tonne N3-Class Vehicles” (MULTINAP) is funded under the 2026 subsidy awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The goal of the project is to develop and deploy an innovative family of multiphase electric drive systems for N1–N3 commercial vehicles. The solution will offer high efficiency and reliability, as well as the ability to scale power and torque according to specific application requirements. The project addresses the needs of the growing electromobility sector in the commercial vehicle segment, including improvements in the energy efficiency, safety and durability of drive systems.
As part of the project, multiphase traction inverter topologies and control algorithms compliant with safety standards will be developed, with particular emphasis on increasing the system’s fault tolerance. The work will also include electromagnetic, thermal and electromagnetic compatibility analyses, vehicle-level system integration of the drive, as well as laboratory and road testing.
The project will result in a scalable traction inverter for commercial vehicles that complies with the applicable standards. The solutions developed will contribute to strengthening domestic technological capabilities and increasing the competitiveness of the Polish economy in the field of electromobility.
The planned outcomes of the project include:
- the development of an innovative family of multiphase traction inverters for N1–N3 commercial vehicles,
- improved reliability and safety of drive systems through the use of multiphase topologies and advanced control strategies recommended by relevant safety standards,
- increased energy efficiency and reduced torque ripple on the vehicle drive shaft,
- validation of the solutions under laboratory and operating conditions in accordance with the applicable standards.
Implementation period: January 1, 2026–December 31, 2028.
