The goal of the project is to develop innovative polymer composites for use in defence products, particularly in the areas of electromagnetic shielding and protection against loads. The innovations developed under the project are based on polymer composites and polymer blends containing secondary raw materials obtained from the recycling of wind turbine blades.

The project aims to develop materials with reduced weight compared with commercially available ceramic, steel and other metal-based counterparts.

The polymer composites will have a lower density – resulting in lighter protective panels for mobile structures – while still offering appropriate functional properties, such as electromagnetic shielding effectiveness, corrosion resistance, and impact mitigation capability.

As part of the project, two main types of materials will be developed:

  • electromagnetic shielding (EMS) composites with electromagnetic wave absorption and reflection properties, designed for shielding electronic devices and equipment, especially mobile equipment,
  • composites containing recycled fibres, designed for impact mitigation and intended for use in mobile protective structures, equipment, and vehicles.

Implementation period: January 1, 2026–December 31, 2027.
