Power Supply and Energy Conversion Systems Research Team – GPE

The GPE Research Team has many years of experience in the design, construction and testing of high-power power electronic converters such as:

  • rectifier sets designed for urban and railway traction power supply systems up to 6 MW
  • AC/AC and AC/DC/DC converters for electric vehicle charging systems
  • AC/DC and AC/DC/AC converters up to several MW for power generation and industrial applications

Area of expertise:

a. research and development, construction and experimental work of a cognitive nature, in the field of power electronic systems, in particular in the field of:

  • semiconductor power converters and
  • microprocessor-based control and control systems

development of custom converter devices, prototype devices and technology solutions in the field of power electronics for:

  • power systems,
  • electromobility,
  • smart-grid and microgrid systems,
  • special power systems,

c. laboratory tests on traction converters, energy storage

We specialise in:

  • complex research, design and development of power electronic power converters,
  • development of custom, prototype semiconductor devices for high-power converters and technology solutions in the field of power electronics,
  • development of microprocessor-based control and adjustment systems;

As part of its activities, the GPE Group carried out tests on power electronic equipment made by the following companies: ABB from Aleksandrów Łódzki, SESTO from Łódź, ELEKTRA from Tychy, Budimex from Warsaw, ELHAND from Lubliniec. Moreover, our offer is addressed to companies that require custom medium- and high-power AC and DC power supply equipment.

The Research Group operates mainly in the industrial area. Through our activities, we offer power supply systems for urban and railway traction, charging systems for EVs, and other power electronics systems for industrial and energy applications. Moreover, we provide laboratory services for the testing of high and medium power electronic equipment.
