Electrical insulating shrouds
Glass fibre composite flat insulating shrouds coated with a thermally resistant polymer compound (PTFE dispersion) for use in the electrical industry, in particular for insulating thermo bimetal plates in small electrical switches, as well as for insulating radiator leads. The shrouds are made in various sizes and sold in discs.
Technical parameters:
- internal dimensions (cross-section similar to a flattened rectangle):
side a [mm]: 4; 5; 6; 7; 8; 9; 10
side b [mm]: 0,5; 0,6; 0,7; 0,8; 0,9; 1,0
- wall thickness: 0,5 mm
- breakdown voltage: 1.25 kV/50 Hz,
- heat resistance up to 400°C; under two-second surge conditions up to 700°C,
- commercial form: lengths of up to 200 m in discs.
Advantages:
- the use of shrouds eliminates the need to use asbestos to insulate the thermoblocks,
- the polymer coating prevents the edges of the shirt ends from fraying and increases their mechanical strength,
- the use of shrouds reduces the labour-intensive insulation of the bimetal plates,
- the shrouds can be divided (cut) into sections for insulating the contacts of components working at high temperatures.
