Within the funding received from the National Reconstruction Plan (NRP/KPO), the team from the Łukasiewicz Institute of Electrical Engineering has planned investments in the laboratories at the Research Centre for Hydrogen Technologies.
The Centre develops hydrogen technologies for the extraction, processing and storage of hydrogen and its carrier media. Broad areas of interest include the development of high-performance catalysts for alkaline water electrolysis, the development of heterogeneous catalyst-based technologies, as well as storage technologies for hydrogen and other gaseous fuels.
The measures taken under the funding are intended to accelerate the deployment of hydrogen technologies in Poland and worldwide, while increasing the safety and competitiveness of low-carbon technologies. Furthermore, the research on high-efficiency catalysts carried out at the Centre focuses on the applications of low-environmental-impact materials and the reduction of process energy consumption.
The NRP funding will result in an expansion of the Centre’s offer and Hydrogen Technology Laboratory.
The planned infrastructure will be used for:
– research and development work in the fields of innovative catalysts, electrolysis technology, fuel cells, and hydrogen and synthetic fuel storage in stationary and mobile tanks;
– development of new technological solutions and advanced research into prototype technologies;
– providing specialised services to industry.
Iwona Koltsov, Ph.D. is responsible for this task;() she is the Director of the Research Centre for Hydrogen Technologies.
