Energy Systems Testing Laboratory
About us
The Laboratory tests the equipment for the protection and safety of power systems, mainly the surge arresters and voltage limiters. The R&D research on the subject is also carried out.
The available equipment allows lightning, steep, rectangular and switching surges to be generated. The surges can be generated in single cycles as well as in a preset sequence. The test equipment allows varistor ageing tests to be carried out at elevated temperatures or increased currents.
Tests performed
List of possible tests:
- testing of low-voltage SPD surge arresters for AC and DC networks,
- testing of surge arresters for AC and DC networks and railway applications,
- testing of VLD voltage limiters
- varistor ageing tests;
The scope of testing performed concerning the work of the LSE Laboratory – AC and DC surge arresters – is covered by the CAE laboratory accreditation.
The laboratory is currently undergoing a reorganisation phase, involving a relocation and staff changes. At this point, tests and trials are not performed.
