In October, the Łukasiewicz – Electrotechnical Institute hosted representatives of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) from Taiwan – one of Asia’s leading research organizations specializing in the development of advanced industrial technologies.

Discussions with ITRI representatives focused on gallium nitride (GaN) technology and the potential for joint validation of integrated systems in the field of power electronics. The talks concluded with an agreement to initiate cooperation and take steps towards establishing a Polish-Taiwanese validation laboratory for GaN power devices.

As part of the new initiative, the following activities are planned:

  • Implementation of product validation and certification processes,
  • Testing of power modules,
  • Modernization of OBC/DC test infrastructure,
  • Knowledge and experience exchange between Polish and Taiwanese teams.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Eng. Marcin Parchomiuk, Director of the Łukasiewicz – Electrotechnical Institute, who emphasized the importance of cooperation with ITRI for enhancing the Institute’s research competencies and strengthening its international position in the field of modern power electronics technologies.

On behalf of ITRI, the collaboration is coordinated by Dr. Mina Hsieh, Project Manager at the System Testing and Field Verification Department.

The partnership between Łukasiewicz–IEL and ITRI represents an important step toward the development of innovative GaN power technologies, and exemplifies how international research collaboration contributes to accelerating the implementation of cutting-edge technological solutions.
