From hydrogen technologies to new materials. Łukasiewicz – IEL and the University of Tokyo are exploring areas for joint research.

WHEN?

WHERE.

The development of hydrogen technologies, modern energy storage systems, and advanced materials was the main topic of a meeting between representatives of the Łukasiewicz Institute of Electrical Engineering and Prof. Shunsuke Yagi of the Institute of Industrial Science at the University of Tokyo.

The discussions focused on identifying areas of common research interest and opportunities for international scientific and research-and-development projects. Particular attention was paid to materials for next-generation batteries, electrochemical catalysts, hydrogen technologies, and issues related to the protection of materials against corrosion.

Prof. Yagi took place at the invitation of Dr. Mateusz Łuba, director of the Hydrogen Technology Research Center (CTW), and was the result of efforts led by the Łukasiewicz Center in collaboration with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) in Japan. It served as a continuation of the dialogue initiated during a previous online meeting dedicated to presenting the CTW’s expertise and the research infrastructure of the Łukasiewicz Institute of Electrical Engineering.

During the meeting, participants discussed opportunities for conducting joint experimental research, preparing scientific publications, exchanging knowledge between research teams, and participating in international projects related to energy transition and the development of future technologies.

The meeting was also attended by Jakub Gadek, Ph.D., Eng., director of the Łukasiewicz Institute of Electrical Engineering; Dorota Heidrich, Ph.D., the President’s representative for international cooperation at the Łukasiewicz Center; and CTW experts: Dr. Krzysztof Bieńkowski, Ph.D., Eng., and Dr. Tomasz Mikołajczyk, Ph.D., Eng., as well as Krzysztof Wieczorek, Senior Commercialization Specialist, and Aleksandra Chim, Marketing Specialist.

These discussions are part of efforts to develop international scientific cooperation and build relationships with leading research centers around the world. The meeting provided an opportunity to identify common areas of research and discuss possibilities for future scientific and research projects.

The dialogue established opens up prospects for future joint scientific and implementation projects aimed at developing innovative technologies that support the energy transition, the hydrogen economy, and modern energy storage systems.
