QREG_SmartGrid

National Projects

The project: “Bidirectional Power Supply System with Dynamic Reactive Power Compensation for SmartGrid Applications” (QREG_SmartGrid) is funded under the 2025 subsidy awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Project value: 679,320.00 PLN
Funding amount: 679,320.00 PLN

The goal of the project is to develop, build, and test a demonstrator of a power converter system enabling bidirectional energy transfer and dynamic reactive power compensation in low-voltage grids, as well as current balancing and higher-order harmonic compensation.

The solution being developed addresses the needs of modern power grids, where power electronics systems, renewable energy sources, energy storage systems, fast charging stations, and solutions supporting electromobility are playing an increasingly important role. The possibility of bidirectional energy flow and reactive power compensation, combined with current balancing and harmonic compensation, will increase the flexibility of the system’s application in areas related to electricity distribution, energy storage, and the integration of consumers and prosumers with the SmartGrid.

As part of the project, a device demonstrator will be developed together with a control system and software. Laboratory tests will be carried out to confirm the functionality of the solution

The project will result in the development of:

  • a report with guidelines for the construction of the power converter system,
  • the design and implementation of the control system together with converter control software,
  • the structural design and construction of the device,
  • the construction of the demonstrator and laboratory testing.

Implementation period: March 1, 2025–December 31, 2026
