The OPS (On-Shore Power Supply) technology developed by Łukasiewicz – IEL, which enables electric ships to be powered from the quay while docked in port, was presented in an article published on the ZielonaGospodarka.pl portal.
This solution is an important part of the efforts to decarbonise maritime transport and modernise port infrastructure, enabling a significant reduction in exhaust and noise emissions generated by ships using their own generators
In the published material, Marcin Parchomiuk, Ph.D., Deputy Research Director of Łukasiewicz – IEL, emphasizes that the effective implementation of OPS technology in Polish ports requires close cooperation between the public sector, port authorities, and business, as well as appropriate regulations and financing mechanisms. Only such an approach will make it possible to fully exploit the potential of Polish innovations and translate them into real environmental and economic benefits.
The Institute declares its readiness for further implementation activities and invites partners to cooperate so that Poland can actively participate in the transformation of maritime transport and the development of modern, low-carbon ports.
