It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Dr Ryszard Kordas (1943-2023) on 22 March 2023. A long-time employee of the Institute of Electrical Engineering (1969-2014).
From 2.01.1997, he was Deputy Director of the Electrotechnical Technology and Materials Science Branch of the Electrotechnical Institute in Wrocław.
Since 2011, he has been appointed Head of the Research Laboratory accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation.
He was secretary, treasurer and chairman of Circle No. 1 of the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers at the Institute of Electrical Engineering, and until 1998 he was a member of the Board of the Wrocław Branch of the SEP, serving for several terms as treasurer and vice-chairman of the Branch Board.
Organiser of many international conferences but also many seminars and symposia.
He was awarded, among others, the Bronze, Silver and Gold Cross of Merit, the SEP Silver, Gold and Sapphire Badges of Honour and the NOT Silver, Gold and Diamond Badge. Awarded the medals of Prof. Mieczysław Pożaryski, Prof. Stanisław Fryze, Prof. Janusz Groszkowski, 100th anniversary of SEP, Prof. Kazimierz Idaszewski and many others.
